How I’m caught between a song
Firing away at a distant target
Find the diamond in the sand
Beginning to believe
Finding is always a test of luck
Here I felt rich for a moment or two
Stroking your words, your desires
I set my mind on fire in the honor of your name
Nothing has changed except the direction in the wind
A boat stuck between two tides
Telling myself this is going somewhere
But the scenery never changed and your name
Unraveled my under garments enough to enjoy the waves
Trying to remain calm, restless tonight, it’s going to explode
The shape of the moon paints “I told you so”
And this shape is less than artistic
I’ve seen this shape before, a remake of something old, not adored
Washed ashore, it reflects tonight in the black of the skies
I feel it coming on, whispering, crawling to the surface
Where it should have been before I said that tiny abstract in the truth
No diamond could have been shinier than you
In my mind I made every star in the sky jealous
That on this bitty planet, in my bitty hand
I held the brightest star the Universe could stand
And I was in your mind the simple cure for the flu
Not enough to stop you from coughing but it’ll do
It’ll do everything you expected it to do, and I did
Two tides got me thinking, thinking I’ve go so many places to drift
So many places to know I exist, because this star I hold
Will be shinier in some other place
Keep a steady pace, a smiling face
Two tides whisper, through the surface of the shore
Leave to find more.
